Children
We seek to equip children to grow in their understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and the many ways to live a life devoted to pleasing Him. All organizations under the umbrella of Children's Ministry help shape attitudes with the intentions of ministering not only to the child, but the family as well. We continuously seek out ways to impart Christian knowledge, so that our children can move toward spiritual maturity.

The Children's Sunday School and Children’s Church program offers children (ages 3 through 5th grade) an opportunity to worship in an environment designed specifically for them. Children's Sunday School begins at 8 am and is followed by Children's Church at 11:30am.
Wednesday night Bible Study or Awana Club is every Wednesday at 6:45 pm in the Christian Life Center. Awana Club is Bible- based teaching catered just for children. Kids participate in energetic games, scripture memorization and small groups led by loving, well-equipped leaders. We want to REACH children with the Gospel of Christ, TEACH children how to have personal relationship with Christ, and TRAIN children to hide God's Word in their hearts.
The Nursery is open to Wheeler Avenue parents of children ages 6 weeks to 2 years old. The goal of the WABC Nursery is to provide excellent care in a safe, well-staffed loving environment. This allows parents to freely worship and participate in other discipleship experiences with complete confidence in the care their children are receiving. Our nursery is staffed by experienced workers who have cleared a background check and are certified annually in WABC's Child Protection Program and by American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid.

Nursery childcare is between the ages of three months and four years old as requested and confirmed for ministry events. Pre-registration is required in order to secure appropriate coverage. Services are subject to the availability of staff. Registered parents will be contacted prior to the event to confirm attendance. Please note that this Saturday, September 28, 2024, childcare service is on a first come, first served basis.

Is there Bible Study for children?
We have Children’s AWANA Bible Study every Wednesday from September to June on Zoom. For more information, email Kim Washington @ kwashington@wheelerbc.org
Should I move my child to another class on their birthday?
No. Children advance to the next class at the end of July just like in preschools and elementary schools. Please do not promote your child. This allows them to remain with age appropriate peers.
When does the Children’s Cherub Choir sing?
The Children’s Cherub Choir normally sings in the Cathedral third Sundays during 11:30 service. Dependent upon service needs, that date may change. Rehearsals are the Saturday prior to the Sunday we minister at 10am.
